How does the cold cap help you keep your hair during chemotherapy?

Testimonials hypothermic cap

Like the ones you'll see in this article, they help chemotherapy patients understand if this technique really works to preserve hair.

The cold cap acts by generating vasoconstriction in the scalp. This limits the arrival of cytotoxic drugs to the hair follicles, thus reducing hair loss. According to multiple studies, the success rate can exceed 60 % for Docetaxel, FEC or EC-T chemotherapy.

And now, we leave you with a testimony complete, real and unedited, published in Trustpilot:

Recommended! They work
Hello, I was diagnosed with hormonal breast cancer (Luminal type A), once the tumour had been operated on and analysed, my oncologist decided to give 4 cycles of chemotherapy every 21 days. The medication is Docetaxol and cyclophosphamide. It was all very quick and I started looking for wigs but I couldn't see myself wearing any, in addition to the high cost. At the last minute a relative (my cousin sister) told me about these caps and I started looking on the internet in desperation because I only had 48 hours to go before the countdown to my first chemo session.
I phoned and thanks to Jose Antonio I got them sent to me in “urgent” mode. He was very kind and did everything he could to make sure it arrived on time. He asked me about the type of cancer and the treatment as he informed me that not all cancers work. He was sincere and gave me the confidence I needed to make up my mind.
I needed 5 caps that we changed every 30 minutes (my session lasted 2 hours) and you have to put them on 30 minutes before and 60/90 minutes after.
My husband helped me because you can't manage on your own, especially at the beginning. They sent me a backpack and a thermal bag to store the caps, which I took with me to the hospital, totally necessary and when I finished the first two caps I took them down to the hospital pharmacy so that they could freeze them again so that when the session was over I could continue for another 60 minutes.
I am a highly sensitive person and the cold of the hats is bearable, quite uncomfortable the first 5 minutes of the first one but you soon get used to it. The head may hurt a bit, but it's mild.
After 14 days of the first cycle I started to lose all the hair on my body, even on my head, but only on the contour (sideburns and nape of the neck) which is where the cap could not reach because I have a rather large head and in spite of making a good adjustment with all the velcro and complements attached to each cap, the lower part of my head was a little uncovered.
During the chemo and radio treatment I have continued to lose hair, as can be a major fall or stressful time.
But after the treatment I have maintained the 60/70% of my hair and I can say that I am satisfied because they have worked for me and above all I am very grateful for the attention received.
